science week: November 2017
SEAI Energy workshop
St. Mary's Parish Primary School held our annual Science Week between 6 - 10 November 2017. Our class was very lucky to be chosen to attend a workshop to learn about energy. It was hosted by the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI).
Did you know that energy is all around us? We learned about renewable and non-renewable sources of energy and how most of our electricity in Ireland is generated by burning fossil fuels such as coal, oil and gas. Burning these fuels sends extra Carbon Dioxide up into the atmosphere. This is why the Green Schools message is so important because by saving electricity and walking to school we are helping to reduce Global Warming and Climate Change ... one step at a time. |
